3 good things that happened to me today

Monday, December 8, 2014

  1. I'm going to see Anthony Hamilton in concert with my boo. Our first concert since we started dating.
  2. I was able to recover from my weekend sickness to make it to work today.
  3. I was reminded of the things happy people do every morning and that made me happy.

  1. I ran 2 miles this morning before work, washed a load of clothes, and saw my baby leave for work.
  2. I completed a few task at work before I got bored and started wondering.
  3. I spoke good blessings to my baby who was having a tough time at work. It made me feel good that it made him feel good.

On Friday, October 12, 2012 I read an article in the October issue of Reader's Digest entitled " Find Happiness". The article listed 5 steps to take toward being a happier person.
1. Value your relationships
2. Express yourself
3. Spend money on others
4. Focus on the positive
5. Hydrate yourself

All are very valid and I've tried them before this article was published.  However Focusing on the positive stuck out at me because it said researchers took several people who were depressed and asked them to document 3 good things that happened to them every day for 6 months.  Writing is very therapeutic and helps bring forth reality.  Writers are told to write every day, visionaries are told to write it and make it plain, weight loss participants are told to write down their daily food intake, etc. So why shouldn't those who desire happiness write down their happy thoughts or actual events?  Writing them down makes you feel better and visually see that things are much brighter than you really think.  So as of today, Friday October 12, 2012 I have decided to do this for at least 6 months to see how much more happier I can really be.  Maybe I should extend it to my family as well. Lord knows they need a jolt of happiness in their lives.

1. Realized God has truly answered my prayers about having like-minded friends who really wanted to hang out with me.  I have a new start so I must take what I've learned from my past/current friendships and not repeat whatever it is that makes me pray for more friends.
2. Realized God has truly answered my prayers about being happy. I feel I am truly happy. Someone even said the other day that I smile all the time. Never heard that before. And during our run group meeting/outing someone said I was happy. They actually posted that on an affirmation sticker about me and placed it on me. That's big.
3. I'm in the habit of running every Saturday morning and if I miss it I'm not happy. I'm looking forward to continuously increasing our mileage for long run Saturdays. I'm excited about 6.  I'll be fighting it but I'm excited to get to that point where I'm doing it every Saturday and its nothing. I'm excited about the possibilities/the future. I'm excited/happy!

Okay, as noticed above I see this isnt going to well. I'll try again today. Can't finish Friday because I really don't remember. Not much to report. However, I will go back and fill in Saturday. Saturday was very blessed.
1. I ran with my girls. Speed Training. Running with them has become my happy time/refuge :-)
2. I was way under my calorie count for the day. That may not be such a great thing but I'm going with it.
3. I weighed in less than I've weighed in in a long time. 181. Haven't seen the scale that low in almost 6 years.

1. I finished my book Flaw Less (it only took me 2 months or so :-)
2. I ran 4.23 miles with East Nasty and felt great, until I took that hill but still way better than the last time I ran that route. I felt lighter and stronger.
3. I did wall sits with one leg. I did 2 sets holding each pose for 30 seconds.

1. I've lost 12 pounds since January, I think.  Three of those pounds came from the clean eating challenge I've been doing.
2. I PR'd on a 5k run during daylight saving time Sunday.  I ran around Opry Mills Mall in 36:33 minutes at an 11 min pace.
3. I've been really nice to Charles and he's been really digging it.  We are in a happy place.
4. I hit my 100 attendee goal for the Middle Region TCSW conference.  We registered 137 people including presenters, volunteers, and participants. I've been aiming for 100 since I joined as President in 2009.

Today’s greatness would be:
1.      I was able to secure a full table for the BBBS Fundraiser Breakfast. And they all returned envelops to donate. That is awesome. Never underestimate people. I was surprised. Thanks God for all the great people.
2.      I am getting faster. Not that I’m running faster but I’m stopping less. That is my greatest joy thus far since continuously seeing evidence of my runs. I’m not longer in the 14 min/mile group. And I’m gradually leaving the over 13:30 pace.  Life is good. Practice and determination is good.
3.      I completed a project on my own that my supervisor entrusted that I would find the answer. I didn’t know it was a test.  I thought it was something I was supposed to know how to do. Pray that I remember how to do it the next time.  Think I want to take an SPSS class. I need to.
4.      I’m feeling really good about my relationship with Charles, really good.

Monday, February 19, 2013

2. My bf and I are on ok terms
3. I prayed today
4. I read my bible today
5. I reached out and saved myself from myself
6.  I finished my assignments
7. I was invited to celebrate a friend's successful transition to a new job! That really made my day that she invited me :-)
